About Us
Montana is home to the world’s largest population of reputation Angus Cattle. Montana has earned the respect of the beef industry not only by producing breed leading genetics, but also through the leadership of its breeders, and the energy and passion they have for Angus cattle. The Montana Angus Association encompasses a vast diversity in programs, philosophy, and genetics that can meet the needs of a variety of breeding goals and environments, but our breeders are all united behind the same vision of advancing the Angus breed.
For decades Montana Angus has led the way with the most AHIR submissions, registrations, and transfers. Annually around 20% of the Angus bulls sold nationally come from right here in Montana. Montana is home to the longest established Angus tour, which has visitors from around the globe every year. Montana breeders pioneered performance testing and is home to the oldest continuously ran bull test, Midland bull test.
Founded in 1942 the Montana Angus Association was built by some of the legends of the Angus breed who worked tirelessly to build an association from the ground up. Their enthusiasm for the breed and Angus cattle fueled the growth and success of Angus genetics. Many of the popular lines of cattle today started right here in Montana. Montana has been leading the way for generations and with a membership that is 300 plus strong, we plan to continue doing so into the future.
